2. User-Driven YouTube Algorithm Sharing

YouShare is dedicated to providing a user-driven experience that enhances the way you interact with YouTube. In this section, we outline our privacy practices related to sharing your YouTube algorithm and the steps we take to ensure your data is used responsibly and securely.

2.1 Purpose of Algorithm Sharing

YouShare allows users to share their YouTube algorithm with friends to create a more personalized and social browsing experience. By sharing your algorithm, you enable your friends to access your YouTube homepage recommendations and discover content that is tailored to your interests. We only use your data for the purpose of facilitating this feature and improving the YouShare platform.

2.2 Data Collection and Processing

To enable the algorithm sharing feature, we collect and process certain information from your YouTube account, including your viewing history, subscriptions, and user preferences. We also collect and process certain information directly from your YouTube home page, including video thumbnails, duration, amount of likes, and titles, as well as channel names and profile pictures. This data is used exclusively to replicate your YouTube homepage recommendations for your friends and is not shared with third parties for any other purpose.

2.3 User Consent and Control

Your privacy is paramount, and we prioritize user consent and control in our algorithm sharing feature. We will never share your YouTube algorithm without your explicit permission. Before enabling this feature, we will prompt you to confirm your consent, and you can revoke your consent or modify your sharing preferences at any time through the YouShare settings. Participation in most YouShare features is entirely voluntary, and users must explicitly opt-in to enable sharing. When activating the feature, we will provide clear and concise information about what data will be shared and how it will be used. Users have the option to customize their sharing preferences and can revoke their consent at any time through the YouShare settings. By default, your information is not shared with anyone, but you can still browse YouShare and see the information other users chose to make available to their followers or the public.

3. One-Click Video Sharing: User-Controlled Notifications

YouShare's one-click video sharing functionality is designed to provide a seamless and efficient way for users to share content with their friends while maintaining control over their privacy. This section of our privacy policy outlines the steps we take to ensure the responsible use of user data and the protection of your privacy in the context of one-click video sharing and notifications.

3.1 User Consent and Customization

Users can opt-in to this functionality by following another user on YouShare. When using our Chrome extension, following a YouShare user allows them to send YouTube videos directly to your account.

Upon receiving a video, a notification will appear on the sender's button in the "Followed" or "Favorite" sections of the YouShare header on your YouTube homepage. By clicking on the button associated with a user you follow, you'll be presented with a scrollable list showcasing the YouTube video thumbnails and related information they've sent directly to you.

Keep in mind that a user cannot send you direct YouTube videos unless you're following them. If you wish, you can remove a user from your "Followed" or "Favorite" lists at any time, giving you full control over your video sharing experience.

3.2 Data Collection and Use

When you enable one-click video sharing, YouShare collects and processes certain data from your Browser including the link to the video, whether you liked the video, and timestamps. This information is used solely to enable the sharing of videos and notifications between you and your friends, as well as to improve the overall YouShare experience. We do not share your data linked to the one-click sharing with third parties for purposes other than providing and enhancing the YouShare platform.

3.3 Privacy of Shared Videos and Notifications

We understand the importance of privacy in the context of video sharing and notifications. When you share a video with friends using the one-click video sharing feature, only the recipients will receive the notification and have access to the shared video through YouShare. We do not disclose the details of shared videos or notifications to other users or third parties.

3.4 Data Retention and Removal

We retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide our services and enhance the YouShare platform. If you choose to disable one-click video sharing by unfollowing every user you followed or delete your YouShare account, we will promptly remove your data from our servers in accordance with our data retention policy and applicable laws.

3.5 Updates to Privacy Practices

We may update our privacy practices related to one-click video sharing and notifications to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. If we make significant changes, we will notify you and obtain your consent where required by law. We encourage you to regularly review our privacy policy to stay informed about our data practices and your privacy choices.

This section of our privacy policy outlines the steps we take to ensure the responsible use of user data and the protection of your privacy in the context of sharing YouTube likes.

4.1 User Consent and Customization

Users must opt-in to this functionality, and we will provide clear and concise information about the data that will be collected, used, and shared in the process. Users can choose whether or not to make their likes visible to others and can disable the feature at any time through YouShare settings. Based on your preferences, your "likes" can be visible to various audiences: all YouShare users, only those who follow you, or exclusively to users you've added to your favorites list. This flexibility allows you to tailor your YouShare experience related to YouTube likes according to your desired level of privacy and engagement.

4.2 Data Collection and Use

When you enable public YouTube likes, YouShare collects and processes certain data from your YouTube account, such as your liked videos and profile information. This information is used solely to display your endorsements on video thumbnails and liked video pages, as well as to improve the overall YouShare experience. We do not share your data with third parties for purposes other than providing and enhancing the YouShare platform.

4.3 Privacy of Public Likes

We understand the importance of privacy in the context of public YouTube likes. When you choose to make your likes visible to others, they will be displayed as small design elements, including your YouShare profile picture and a like icon, on video thumbnails and liked video pages. We do not disclose the details of your liked videos or related information to other users or third parties without your explicit consent.

4.4 Data Retention and Removal

We retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide our services and enhance the YouShare platform. If you choose to disable public YouTube likes or delete your YouShare account, we will promptly remove your data from our servers in accordance with our data retention policy and applicable laws.

Cookies: Small text files called cookies are sent to your computer's hard drive by websites for record-keeping purposes. These cookies help us monitor your activities on our platform, resulting in a seamless YouShare experience. Cookies come in two forms: session and persistent cookies. Session cookies are temporary and vanish when you close your browser or shut down your computer. We use these cookies to recognize you during a session, ensuring smooth navigation. Persistent cookies, however, remain on your computer even after you've closed your browser or powered off your computer. We use these cookies to collect aggregated and statistical data about user activities and to display relevant ads on YouShare. To see a comprehensive list of our cookies and their purposes, don't hesitate to contact us.

Most web browsers accept cookies by default, but you can modify your browser settings to block them if desired. The Help section of most browser toolbars offers guidance on preventing new cookies, receiving notifications upon receiving a new cookie, or disabling cookies completely. Disabling cookies allows you to browse some parts of YouShare, but certain features might not work properly (e.g., you might be unable to remain logged into your account).

Local Storage Objects: We may use Flash Local Storage Objects (“Flash LSOs”) to store your YouShare preferences and tailor your experience. Flash LSOs are different from browser cookies in terms of the amount and type of data stored. Typically, you cannot control, delete, or disable Flash LSOs through your web browser. For more information on Flash LSOs or managing your settings, visit the Adobe Flash Player Help Page, select “Global Storage Settings Panel,” and follow the instructions. To view the Flash LSOs on your computer, choose “Website Storage Settings Panel” and follow the instructions to review and delete specific Flash LSOs if you wish.

Clear GIFs, pixel tags, and other technologies: Clear GIFs, also known as web beacons, web bugs, or pixel tags, are minuscule graphics with distinct identifiers, similar to cookies. In contrast to cookies that are stored on your computer's hard drive, clear GIFs are embedded invisibly on web pages or mobile applications. We use clear GIFs on YouShare to monitor visitor activities, manage content, and gather statistics about platform usage. Our third-party service providers and we also utilize clear GIFs in HTML emails sent to our customers to track response rates, email views, and forwards.

You can also download the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent their data from being used by Google Analytics at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Third-Party Analytics: We utilize Google Analytics, a third-party analytics company, to assess YouShare's usage. This tool assists us in understanding and enhancing our platform's performance and user experience. Google Analytics may employ cookies and other tracking technologies, such as web beacons or local storage objects (LSOs), to execute their services. To learn more about Google's privacy practices, please review their privacy policy at https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/. Additionally, you can download the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Opting Out and Do Not Track: At present, our systems do not recognize browser "do-not-track" requests. However, we do not track your activities once you leave YouShare. You can still disable specific tracking by following the steps outlined in this section (e.g., disabling cookies).

For users in the United States, you can opt out of many third-party ad networks.
